Two armed forces personnel killed, three injured in mine blast near LoC

Srinagar: Two armed forces personnel have been killed and three others were injured in a mine blast near the Line of Control in the Nowshera-Sunderbani sector in Jammu and Kashmir, NDTV reported on Saturday.

The report quoted officials saying that an officer and a personnel were killed in action after an army patrol stepped on a landmine near the LoC.

Those injured have been shifted to an army hospital where the condition of two is said to be critical.

The Nowshera sector comes under the Rajouri district which is part of the Pirpanjal region in Jammu where a military operation is underway in the forests of Poonch for the last three weeks.

In what is being termed as the longest operation in the last 18 years, 9 armed forces personnel including two officers have been killed so far.
