Srinagar: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has demanded that the body of Amir Ahmad Magrey one of the four men killed in alleged Hyderpora gunfight be returned to the family.

Taking to her Twitter handle, the former BJP ally hit out at the ruling government.

“Aamir Magrey also killed in Hyderpora encounter is yet to be given a decent burial by his mourning family. The fact that these families are begging for mortal remains instead of asking for justice reflects their lack of faith in the system. His body must be returned immediately,” she wrote.

Magrey who belonged to Ramban area of Jammu and Kashmir, was among one of the civilians killed in the controversial gunfight. Police had claimed that the slain was a ‘hybrid militant’ a charge vehemently denied by family.

The twenty-two-year-old was working as an employee in the Hyderpora building where the alleged military operation happened.

Two more civilians belonging to Srinagar were also killed in the building and were buried in Handwara. However, following uproar, their bodies were exhumed and buried in their ancestral graveyards.
