Pistol recovered from vehicle, driver flees in south Kashmir: Police

Anantnag: Police on Tuesday said that during routine checking, a pistol was recovered from a vehicle even as the driver along with the vehicle managed to flee from the spot.

A police official said that person boarding the vehicle was arrested and is presently being questioned.

He said that during routine checking at Arwani bridge on the new Srinagar-Jammu highway, a police party recovered one pistol from a vehicle—Vitara Brezza.

“While the person detained is presently being questioned, the main culprit absconded from the spot along with vehicle and efforts are underway to trace him,” he said.

It was not immediately known if the man detained had taken the lift in the vehicle or knew the owner. (GNS)
