Gautam Gambhir alleges death threat from ‘ISIS’

New Delhi: Bhartiya Janta Party MP and former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir approached Delhi Police on Tuesday night alleging he had received death threats from “ISIS Kashmir”, reports said quoting police officials.

Quoting CP Central Shweta Chauhan, reports said that police have swung into action and an investigation is underway in the matter.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up outside Gautam Gambhir’s Rajendra Nagar residence.

The threats were sent to the cricketer-turned-politician in the form of emails, the report said. Other details regarding the threats are yet to be ascertained. Police will take further action after investigation, including verification of the e-mail address from which the threat letter was sent to Gambhir, police officials said.

Gautam Gambhir was elected as the Lok Sabha MP from east Delhi on a BJP ticket in 2019. He played for India at the international level for 15 years, before announcing his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2018.
