Pulwama: A militant commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad along with his foreign associate was killed in a military operation in Qasbayar area of Rajpora hamlet in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said on Wednesday.
He said that the commander of militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Yasir Parray, who was an ‘IED expert’, was killed along with his foreign associate identified as Furqan in the operation.
Both militants were involved in several cases and their killing is a ‘big success’ to armed forces, the IGP said.
“PulwamaEncounterUpdate: #Militant commander of proscribed outfit JeM Yasir Parray, an IED Expert & foreign militant Furqan #neutralised. Both were involved in several terror #crime cases. A big #success: IGP Kashmir,” Kashmir Police Zone tweeted.
The military operation in Qasbayar started after a joint team of Police, Army, and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
