Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Bank has placed a woman employee under suspension for reacting with ‘laugh emoji’ at a social media post on Indian Defence Chief General Bipin Rawat’s death, news agency PTI reported on Friday quoting officials.

The woman had reportedly reacted by the laughing emoji on a social media report about Bipin Rawat’s death.

”Despite repeated circulars issued from time to time against the misuse of social media platforms contrary to the interests/rules of the bank, in one such incident, one of our employees had made derogatory comments/remarks on social media on a tragic accident,” the bank stated in the letter of suspension.

On Wednesday, Rawat, his wife, and 11 others died following a chopper crash in Tamil Nadu.

The Indian Air Force Mi-17V5 helicopter was airborne from Sulur for Wellington.

“An IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, with CDS Gen Bipin Rawat on board, met with an accident today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. An Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident,” the Indian Air Force tweeted soon after the incident.

The crash took place in the Nilgiris, shortly after the Mi-series chopper took off from the army base in Sulur.
