Man arrested for ‘sensitive comment’ on Bipin Rawat’s death, second in 3 days
Rajouri: Days after a man from Muradpur village of Rajouri was detained on a “sensitive Facebook post” on helicopter crash that led to the death of Indian Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife and eleven other armed forces personnel, another man from the same district has been detained for a similar post and legal proceedings have been initiated against him.
On Wednesday, following the chopper crash, a man from Muradpur village of Rajouri was detained for his “sensitive post” on the Rawat’s death.
Officials said that the man who has been detained now is a resident of Doongi Keri block area of Rajouri falling under Chatyar police post of the district.
As per officials, he shared a “sensitive post” on his Facebook wall and has been detained now.
“Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused who is a young man in his mid-20s,” officials added.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Bank placed a woman employee under suspension for reacting with a ‘laugh emoji’ at a social media post on Rawat’s death.
The woman had reportedly reacted by the laughing emoji on a social media report about Bipin Rawat’s death.
“Despite repeated circulars issued from time to time against the misuse of social media platforms contrary to the interests/rules of the bank, in one such incident, one of our employees had made derogatory comments/remarks on social media on a tragic accident,” the bank stated in the letter of suspension.
On Saturday, an Indian filmmaker Ali Akbar said that he and his wife Lucyamma will convert to Hinduism and will no longer be Muslims following the death of Rawat in a chopper crash
Citing alleged ‘smiley emoticons’ below the posts and comments in social media related to the death of Rawat, Akbar, a Wayanad Kerala resident, said that even top leaders of Islam have not opposed such actions by people who “dishonored” the officer and he could not accept it.
He said he has lost faith in the religion and he posted a video on his Facebook page on Wednesday about it, reports said on Saturday.
Pertinently, Rawat, his wife, and 11 others died following a chopper crash in Tamil Nadu on December 8.
The Indian Air Force Mi-17V5 helicopter was airborne from Sulur for Wellington.
“An IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, with CDS Gen Bipin Rawat on board, met with an accident today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. An Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident,” the Indian Air Force tweeted soon after the incident.
The crash took place in the Nilgiris, shortly after the Mi-series chopper took off from the army base in Sulur.
