Kulgam military Op: Slain militants identified, says police

Kulgam: Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday said that armed forces have killed two militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (TRF) outfit in a military operation in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

In a statement, police said, “Acting on a specific input regarding the presence of militants in village Redwani area of Kulgam, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, 1st RR and 18Bn CRPF in the said area. “

During the search operation, police said, “as the presence of militants got ascertained, they were given repeated opportunities to surrender; however they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated leading to the operation.”

In the operation, “two militants affiliated with LeT (TRF) were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of operation. They have been identified as Amir Bashir Dar resident of Kujjar Frisal and Adil Yousuf Shan resident of Sursano Hatipora, Kulgam.”

As per records, police said, “the slain were categorized militants and linked with LeT (TRF). They were also part of groups involved in several militancy crime cases including attacks on armed forces and civilian atrocities.”

Incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition including 02 Pistols, 02 magazines, 07 pistol rounds and a grenade were recovered from their possession. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation, the statement added.
