Snow clearance underway on historic Mughal road.

Srinagar: Following overnight snowfall in various parts of the Kashmir valley, authorities on Thursday directed for closure of Mughal road for all sorts of vehicular traffic till further orders.

Officials said that the road has been closed in view of slippery road conditions in view of nearly two to three inches of snowfall over the terrain.

“The road will remain closed till further orders,” the officials said.

Pertinently, the upper reaches of Kashmir Valley received snowfall while rains started in plains today.

Amid overnight cloud cover, the minimum temperature rose considerably across the JK and Ladakh, with most places in Kashmir Valley recording above-sub-zero temperature.

Almost 4 inches of snowfall were reported from parts of north Kashmir as authorities closed Bandipora-Gurez road.

However, vehicles were plying on the Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with the outside world.
