Six JeM militants killed in south Kashmir in last 12 hours, says police

Srinagar: Six Jaish-e-Mohammed militants were killed in two separate military operations in south Kashmir in the last 12 hours, Jammu and Kashmir police said on Thursday.

Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that six militants associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit were killed in two separate military operations- one in Kulgam and another in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.

“Four among the six killed militants have been identified so far as two Pakistani militants and two locals while the identification of other two is being ascertained,” the IGP said.

The police officer in a tweet said, “6 militants of militant outfit JeM killed in two separate encounters. 4 among the killed militants have been identified so far as (2) Pakistani & (2) local militants. Identification of other 02 militants is being ascertained”.

In Kulgam’s Mirhama area, police earlier said that three militants were killed and their identification was being ascertained.

While in Dooru Shahabad area of Anantnag, an equal number of militants were killed taking the toll of the slain to six in the two separate operations.

In Anantnag, during the initial exchange of fire, three armed forces personnel were injured, who were later shifted to hospital for treatment.
