Kashmir to witness additional power curtailments for next 10 days, say officials

Srinagar: The Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited on Friday informed that a transmission tower of Samba-Amargarh line has got damaged due to landslides in Thanamandi area of Rajouri, which will result in additional power curtailments in the Kashmir valley for the next ten days.

“Due to landslides at Thanamandi Rajouri, 1 tower of 400 KV Sambha-Amargarh Sterllite Transmission Line has toppled, because of land erosion as a result of which power supply to Kashmir Valley has got partially affected since intervening night of 20th and 21st January 2022,” a KPDCL official said.

“We are short of availability of power by 10%, this has resulted in additional curtailments. Restoration works have been taken up in hand by the concerned agency and will take about 10 days. Consumers are requested to bear with the corporation and inconvenience caused to the general public is regretted,” the official added.
