NIA court grants interim bail to Journalist Fahad Shah, says lawyer

Srinagar: A court in Jammu and Kashmir granted interim bail to Kashmiri Journalist Fahad Shah on Saturday.

“The majesty of law has been upheld, the Special Court designated under the NIA act admitted @pzfahad to interim bail. The administration couldn’t dominate maliciously while the judiciary rescued him courageously. Thank you for the support from every corner and everyone,” tweeted Advocate Umair Ronga.

Fahad, who is editor of a local news magazine and portal- The Kashmir Walla- was arrested by police earlier this month.

On February 5, 2022, JK Police had said that Fahad was “wanted” in three cases for “glorifying” militancy and spreading “fake” news.

“Fahad Shah is wanted in 3 cases for glorifying (militancy), spreading fake news & inciting general public for creating L&O (law and order) situations: FIR No. 70/2020 of PS Safakadal Srinagar, FIR No. 06/2021 of PS Imamsahib, Shopian & currently has been arrested in FIR No. 19/2022 of PS Pulwama,” police had said in a tweet.
