Shopian: An armed forces personnel, who was on leave, was shot dead at his native village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday evening.
Police officials said that personnel of Central Reserve Police Force identified as Mukhtar Ahmad of Check Chotipora Shopian was fired upon by militants at his native village on Saturday evening.
He said that in the incident the armed forces personnel received severe injuries and was shifted to the hospital for treatment where he was declared brought dead.
He added that the area has been cordoned off and searches have been launched in the area.
