Shopian: A militant has been killed in an ongoing military operation in Turkwagam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday, police said.
Police officials said that one militant has been killed as the body can be seen from a distance.
However, the identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained as the operation is still underway, the police officials said.
Earlier on Thursday evening, a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Turkwagam.
As the joint team of armed forces approached the suspected spot, police officials said the hiding militants fired upon them triggering the operation.
