Frequent power cuts dismay Kashmiris, KCCI urges LG for intervention

‘Never seen such worst and frequent cuts in the holy month, especially during Sehri and Iftaar’

Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday expressed concern over the unscheduled power cuts as this is causing a lot of hardships to the people in this Holy month of Ramazan.

“We have never seen such worst and frequent cuts in the holy month, especially during Sehri and Iftaar,” the traders body said in a statement.

“KCC&I urges the administration and the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people during Sehri and Iftaar hours in the Valley,” it said, adding, “In the past the Governments and administrations tried to facilitate the people during Ramazan, but the harrowing experiences that are unfolding in this holy month of Ramazan.”

The patients were struggling throughout who are on oxygen support at their homes, it said.

“The Shab-e-Qadar is heading, KPDCL should ensure sufficient supply of electricity in Jammu and Kashmir,” the KCC&I said and hoped that the administration will ensure electricity at least now for last 10 days of this holy month.

Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad President KCC&I appealed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to personally intervene, so that the people will get uninterrupted electricity.
