New Delhi: The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police on Thursday arrested Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel on charges of espionage suspecting his involvement with Pakistan’s intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The IAF personnel identified as Devendra Sharma was allegedly trapped in a ‘honey trap’ in an attempt to obtain sensitive information related to the IAF from him.

The Delhi Police said it suspects that Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI is involved in this work, news agency ANI reported.

“It is alleged that an attempt has been made to collect sensitive information related to the IAF from him by first trapping IAF jawan Devendra Sharma in the honey trap,” Delhi Police said.

The police have also found some suspicious transactions in the bank account of Sharma’s wife, the report said.

After being honey-trapped, Sharma was allegedly asked for the names and addresses of higher officials, according to ABP News sources. Information about how many radars have been deployed was also allegedly extracted from him.

Based on the input received from an intelligence agency, Delhi Police arrested Sharma, ABP News reported.

Sharma was arrested from Dhaula Kuan, Delhi, according to Crime Branch sources quoted in the report. He is a resident of Kanpur.
