Amarnath Yatra: Snow clearance underway on Baltal track

Ganderbal: Almost 90 percent of snow has been cleared from Baltal track leading to Amarnath Shrine while work on the remaining portion is underway, officials said.

According to officials of the concerned agencies, 14 km road length which is the shortest track to the cave via Baltal in Ganderbal is almost through except for snow clearance at one or two places.

He said that they will replace six vital wooden bridges with steel bridges for a smooth yatra. Besides, three helipads for choppers from Baltal to the cave are also ready for carrying pilgrims.

The snow clearance on a portion of track from Sangam to Panchtarni is going on at full pace and will be made through within a week or so, the official added.

Besides the tile work on the path from Baltal to Domail has been completed and the work on the extension up to Railpathri is also going on.

Meanwhile, langer walas are also visiting the base camp in order to take stock of arrangements made for them by the district administration.
