Water Workers Coordination Committee calls for 72 hours hunger strike

Srinagar: Water Workers Coordination Committee on Thursday announced a hunger strike from May 17.

The Committee demanded resolution of long pending demands like deputation and regularisation.

“We have already gone to court for our issues and court has allowed that employees will work with PHE department but court orders are been taken-for-granted,” reads the statement.

Committee said employees are working for 24 hours without any holidays. “We even have not got salaries from 3 months.”

Committee has decided for 72 hours of hunger strike from May 17, if the JK administration doesn’t fulfil their genuine demands, it said.
