VIDEO | Abandoned Architecture: J&K Minerals Cement Factory

Decades ago, Pampore’s village of Wuyan remained abuzz and lively around a gigantic structure which became a source of livelihood for many in the small town.

The foundation of the structure – J&K Minerals Cement Factory, was laid by the then President of Kashmir Dr Karan Singh, on 19th July, 1962. Later in 1962, it was handed over to Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad, the then Prime Minister of Kashmir.

It was Kashmir’s first ever cement mill which was designed with German technology.

Mr. Rather, who worked as an operator recalls memories of the time he spent working with the German engineers back then.

The factory is now an abandoned architecture giant.
