Army personnel injured in Kulgam military Op, militants flee: Officials

Kulgam: Militants managed to give the slip to armed forces, while army personnel was injured during a military operation in Brayihard Kathpora village of Yaripora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, officials said.

An official said that a joint team of police, Army’s 34 RR, and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched a search operation in the area.

“As the searches were on, militants who had taken shelter in a nearby area came out firing guns and lobbed grenades,” he said.

He said that the exchange of fire continued for a few minutes after which the guns fell silent.

The official added that armed forces launched searches for hours to trace the militants, but they couldn’t find anyone, and the operation was finally called off.

He also said that an army man received injuries during the initial exchange of firing. (KNO)
