Armed forces personnel held with tear-gas shell, live rounds at Srinagar airport, 3rd in 24 hours

Srinagar: An armed forces personnel was detained at the Srinagar International Airport on Saturday morning after airport authorities recovered live rounds and tear-gas shell from his baggage.

During screening at the drop gate of the Srinagar International Airport, 2 live AK rounds, 1 INSAS round and 1 tear-gas smoking shell were recovered from the baggage of Constable Rana Pratap of 161Bn CRPF who was proceeding on leave from Srinagar to Ranchi by Indigo Airlines, a local news agency KDC reported quoting official sources.

Pratap, who is posted at Dalgate, was immediately detained for questioning and later handed over to police post Humhama, the report said.

They said that further investigation against Pratap has been initiated in this regard.

Earlier on Friday, two armed forces personnel- Babin Kumar of 3 RR who was proceeding on leave from Srinagar to Delhi by GoFirst flight possessing live cartridge and another Vijay Pal of Assam Riffles (AR) possessing two live rounds of INSAS- were detained and subsequently shifted to police post Humhama.
