Ghulam Nabi Azad quits Congress, resigns from all posts

New Delhi: Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has resigned from all positions including primary membership of the Congress Party.

Azad sent his resignation letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi days after he resigned from the organizational post of Jammu and Kashmir citing health issues.

In his resignation letter, Azad cited several issues including the organizational election process.

Azad was the Health Minister of India during UPA-2 era. In June 2014, after the National Democratic Alliance won a majority in the Lok Sabha and formed the government, Azad was appointed as the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
