Two held with heroin in north Kashmir, says police

Srinagar: Police along with the army on Friday arrested two drug peddlers along with 625 grams of heroin-like substance at Suktan Daki area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

In a statement, the police said that during naka checking at Sultan Daki Uri, Police arrested two drug peddlers namely Mohd Safeer and  Mohd Saleem, sons of  Feroz Ali Khokhar, residents of Madiyan Kamalkote Uri and recovered 652 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession.

According to a police spokesman, a case under NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Uri, and an investigation was set in motion.

General People of Kamalkote and its surrounding areas hailed the efforts of Baramulla Police and showed their willingness to support police to eradicate the menace of drugs from society which is the real sign of police public relationship, he said.

People are requested to come forward with information regarding drug peddlers in their areas so that the drug menace can be eradicated from society, reads the statement.
