Srinagar: Additional Director General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Tuesday identified the militants killed in Shopian district during a military operation. He said one of the slain Danish was behind the recruitment of militants in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

The Kashmir Police Zone while quoting ADGP Vijay Kumar wrote, “The 3 killed militants have been identified as local militants of LeT namely Danish Khursheed Bhat, Tanveer Wani & Towseef Bhat. They were involved in several militant crime cases. Militant Danish was involved in the recruitment of youth into militant ranks in Shopian”.

Earlier in the day, police said three militants were killed in the Naghbal village of Zainapora hamlet in the Shopian district.

It said a joint team of police, Army and CRPF, after receiving information about the presence of militants, had launched a search operation in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering the operation.
