Militants killed in Anantnag military Op identified, says police

Anantnag: Two militants killed in an ongoing military operation in Poshkreeri village of Kanelwan area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have been identified as Danish Bhat and Basharat Nabi, police said.

The slain militants associated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen were involved in the killing of TA personnel and two civilians on 29 May 2021 in Jablipora, police said.

The Kashmir Police Zone while quoting ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar wrote on Twitter, “Killed militants identified as Danish Bhat @ Kokab Duree & Basharat Nabi, both affiliated with proscribed militant outfit HM. Both were involved in killing of one TA personnel Saleem on 9 April 2021 & killing of two civilians on 29 May 2021 in Jablipora.”

Pertinently, this is the second military operation that south Kashmir witnessed in the last 24 hours. Earlier, the operation against militants started in Baskuchan village of Shopian district.

However, police today informed that militants escaped from the site of operation in Baskuchan village, and the operation was called off.
