Military operation against militants starts in south Kashmir, says police

Anantnag: A military operation against militants started in Poshkreeri village of Kanilwan area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday, police said.

A police official told Free Press Kashmir that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Poshkreeri village following specific input about the presence of militants in the area.

Meanwhile, police in a tweet also confirmed the operation and wrote: “Encounter has started at Poshkreeri area of Anantnag. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow”.

Pertinently, this is the second military operation that south Kashmir witnessed in the last 21 hours. Earlier, the operation against militants started in Baskuchan village of Shopian district.

However, police today informed that militants escaped from the site of operation in Baskuchan village, and the operation was called off.
