Family alleges daughter killed by husband in Handwara, ‘probe on to ascertain facts’, says police

Kupwara: A family of a woman from Dorus village of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday accused the in-laws of their daughter murdering her in Zachaldara area of Handwara.

“Yesterday late last night, my sister my Uzma (23), was brutality thrashed by her in-laws including her husband and left her critically injured following which she was referred to SKIMS hospital Srinagar where she succumbed,” brother of deceased told the Kashmir news Service.

He alleged that the victim was allegedly murdered by her in-laws and his husband as she was being harassed for money which her father had given her.

He also urged police to arrest all those involved in the alleged murder of his sister.

Meanwhile, a senior police officer said that the investigation is on to ascertain the actual cause of the woman’s death as police is waiting for the autopsy report.

The officer added that the husband of victim is absconding. However police is in search of him and hopefully he will be arrested soon. (KNS)
