Kashmiri AMU student missing, family seeking whereabouts protests in Sopore

Missing Kashmiri AMU student's family and relatives along with locals protest in Sopore.

Sopore: The family members and relatives of a student from Sopore, who went missing at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), staged a massive protest on Saturday morning, seeking the whereabouts of their missing kin.

Reports reaching to the news agency Kashmir News Observer said the family members and relatives of Masroor Abbas Mir, a 10th standard student at AMU, who went missing three days ago held a massive protest demonstration, seeking his whereabouts.

The protestors sought intervention from Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to ensure the safety and return of their son.

Masroor Abbas Mir of Bohripora had left his hostel at 8 am for school on Thursday but did not reach there.

“We tried to seek his whereabouts from his colleagues and school authorities but nobody is aware where he is,” a family member said.

The family has also lodged a missing report at the concerned police station.

Meanwhile, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti has also tweeted the details of the missing student asking people to help the family in tracing their missing son.

“Masroor Abbas Mir, a tenth grade student at the Aligarh Muslim University has been missing since yesterday morning. Please do spread the word in helping his family trace his whereabouts,” the JKPDP president wrote on her social media handle.

Relying on Mehbooba’s tweet, the Aligarh police said, “Legal proceedings were made prevalent by registering charges. Cooperate in finding the missing person, if seen anywhere, inform the jurisdictional officer III- 9454401241 and station in-charge civil line- 9454402778”.
