Farooq Abdullah, Omar, Mehbooba to join Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra: Congress

Srinagar: All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary (Org) and Member of Parliament, K.C.Venugopal Tuesday said that all the like-minded people including former chief ministers of erstwhile JK State are joining the Bharat Joda Yatra in the Union Territory.

“It is a happiest moment for us that Dr Farooq Abdullah, his son Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami among others are joining the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir,” Venugopal said while addressing a news conference here at Srinagar.

He said that the people of J&K are eagerly waiting for the yatra, saying that the entire country is looking for J&K BJY yatra. He added that every Congress worker will be in the field to make the programme a grand success.

“This yatra is national Padyatra, our leader Rahul Gandhi has already announced that come what may, he will go entire route of the country including J&K,” he said, adding that today a meeting was held in Srinagar to review the preparations for the yatra while the party leaders also met the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha yesterday. “It was a good meeting with LG Manoj Sinha. He offered all sort of cooperation for this yatra,” he said.

“I am very happy to say that Dr Farooq, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Tarigami among others are ready to join the yatra, which is the happiest moment for us. All the like-minded people are joining the yatra and every day the impact of the yatra is increasing,” he added.

Pertinently, K.C.Venugopal MP and J&K Incharge Rajani Patil MP held detailed discussions on the upcoming Bharat Jodo Yatra with Party leaders here in Srinagar today. AICC General Secretary (Org) also received feedback with regard to ongoing preparations and arrangements being made for the successful conduct of Yatra.

K.C.Venugopal had a brief discussion about the mobilization while terming the Yatra a socio-political initiative to protect the idea of India. He declared that people from different political parties believing in the core ideology of INC will join this Yatra, as that, the Yatra was hope for all Indians.
