After long-awaited elections, KCCI elects Javaid Tenga as President, Ashaq Shangloo as Sr. Vice President

Srinagar: A day after the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries elected its new executive committee with 21 candidates emerging victorious; the committee has now officially elected President, Senior Vice President and other heads.

Javaid Tenga has been elected as President, Aashaq Hussain Shangloo is Senior Vice President, Fayaz Ahmad Punjabi is Junior Vice President, Faiz Ahmad Bakshi is Secretary General and Zubair Mahajan has been elected as Treasurer

Pertinently, the elections to elect the new executive committee were conducted after a delay of three years. The last election was held in 2019. Of the total 42 candidates in the poll fray, 21 emerged victorious.

The highest numbers of votes were bagged by Akib Chaya with 453 voting in his favour followed by Umar Nazir Tibatbaqal with 444 votes.

Those who were earlier elected include Aashaq Hussain Shangloo, Faiz Ahmad Bakshi, Javid Ahmad Bhat, Amir Manzoor, Muzaffar Majid Jan, Ashfaq Ahmad Zahgeer, Farooq Ahamd Kuthoo, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Fayaz Ahmad Punjabi, Altaf Ahmad Tramboo, Jagmohan Singh Raina, Mohammad Lateif Bhat, Siah Mohammad Ibrahim, Suhail Jan, Zubair Mahajan, Touseef Ahmad Bhat, Feroz Ahmad Bisati, Showkat Khan and Zahoor Hussain Alamgir.

The elections were held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Muhammad Aijaz Asad, Registrar JK High Court Judicial, administration of JK and the Election Committee of KCCI.

The High Court of JK and Ladakh had in December last year ordered that the elections of KCCI be concluded within a month.
