Boy, girl ‘jump’ into river Jhelum in Baramulla; girl rescued, Op on

Baramulla: A girl was rescued after she alongside a boy allegedly jumped into river Jhelum in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district this afternoon, reports and official sources said.

Reports said that a rescue operation was initiated at Dewan Bagh Foot Bridge, near Gulnaar Park, in Baramulla soon after the news about the drowning of a boy and girl spread in the area.

The NDRF assisted by locals rescued the girl while the operation continued to locate the boy.

In the meantime, official sources said that the boy and girl allegedly jumped into the water body. “Soon after intimation, authorities launched a rescue operation, which has so far yielded in the rescue of the girl”, they said adding the operation to find the boy continues at the site.

A police official said that a police team is on the site to collect details. “Once we receive any credible information, we will share it accordingly”, the official said. (GNS)
