Quds Day observed in central Kashmir to express solidarity with Palestinians

Budgam: Massive rallies were held in parts of central Kashmir on ‘Youm-e-Quds’ in which thousands of people participated and expressed solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine.

After Friday congregational prayers, people carried out a massive protest rally in Central Kashmir’s Budgam. It was later joined by thousands of others. Both Shias and Sunnis were seen at the rally.

The rally was organized by Anjuman-e-Shari Shian.

The biggest rally was held in Magam town of Budgam in which thousands of female protesters participated.

Locals told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that this rally was organized by ‘Tanzeem-ul-Makatib’ and ‘Jammu Kashmir Shia Association.

Protesters were carrying banners and placards that read, “Palestine needs more hands to help them; to pray for them, pray for the children of Gaza, down with Israel and US, etc.

Large number of women also took an active part in the rally. “Quds Day is not only a day of Palestine, but it is also the day of every oppressed,” a group of female protesters said.

“We are observing this day to lend our support to oppressed people of Palestine,” one of the speakers said and requested Muslim nations to shun differences and initiate steps for the freedom of Palestine.

“Quds Day symbolizes the valor, resistance, revolution and voice of the oppressed nations of world,” said a protester.

Many protesters were holding portraits of Imam Khomeini and Imam Khamenei. [KNT]
