Bahrain’s Member of Parliament Ahmad Qarata has called for action against the Modi-led government of India as he raised concerns over repeated attacks on Muslims saying if Indians in Bahrain are being treated respectfully why are Muslims in India being persecuted?

He made comments while discussing former legislator of India Atiq Ahmed and his brother’s murder in Uttar Pradesh.

“Indians in Bahrain-Gulf are treated with all respect whilst they earn their bread/butter in Muslim countries but our Muslim brethren in India are being persecuted and it’s unacceptable,” the MP said.

Appealing to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Bahrain leader said: “Please summon the Indian Ambassador to Bahrain and take action immediately to stop the ongoing atrocities and persecution of Indian Muslims by Modi’s Government and Hindutva Terrorists of RSS terror group.”

He added, “Indian Muslims are on the brink of genocide. Hindutva terrorists of Modi and his government are committing heinous crimes against innocent Muslims, destroying Mosques, Islamic seminaries and jailing innocents under State Security Laws. Take action before it’s too late.”

Last week, Atiq Ahmad, 60, and Ashraf, who were in handcuffs, were shot dead by three men posing as journalists when they were answering reporters’ queries while being escorted by police personnel to a medical college in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj for a checkup on the night of April 15, 2023.

Just hours before the shooting, the last rites of Ahmad’s son Asad, who along with one of his associates was gunned down in a police encounter in Jhansi on April 13, were held.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh claimed that its police killed 183 alleged criminals in encounters in the six years of the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government and this included Asad and his accomplice.

Pertinently, Muslims in India are presently enduring a seemingly endless cascade of hate, violence, harassment, and demonization by Hindu right-wing outfits. Most of the violence is reportedly being witnessed in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and other parts.
