Search Op launched in Poonch after ‘suspicious movement’

Poonch: A search operation was launched by armedd forces personnel on Wednesday in parts of Poonch town after ‘suspicious movement’ in the area.

Based on the information, armed forces launched a cordon and search operation in Khakha Nawan, Purani Poonch, Jernally Mohalla of Poonch, officials said. The operation was going on when the last reports came in from the area.

Some locals noticed suspicious movement of some armed people in Poonch town, said a PTI report. Two schools in the town have also been shut.

Security forces are already on high alert and setup is fully activated following militant attack in Bhatta Dhurian in which five army personnel were killed on April 20.

According to PTI, armed forces are also undertaking Operation Trinetra in neighbouring border district of Rajouri’s Kandi forests following killing of five paratroopers in explosion triggered by militants during a CASO last Friday.
