SIA raids houses of five ‘militants’ operating from PaK, says police

Kishtwar: Police on Wednesday said that its Special Investigation Unit (SIU) carried out raids at multiple locations in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement, the police said that sleuths of SIA of JK police obtained house search warrants from NIA court Jammu under FIR number 272/2022 registered under UAPA Act at police station Kishtwar.

“The case is against militants namely Shahnawaz @Nayeem, son of Gulam Mohd of Chirool Padyarna, Nayeem Ahmed @ Amir/Gazi, son of Nabi Gundna, who lives near Jamia Masjid Kishtwar, Mohd Iqbal @ Bilal, son of Mohd Akber Butt of Kichloo Market Kishtwar and Shahnawaz Kanth @ Munna @ Umer, son of Abdul Rasheed of Hullar Kishtwar and Javid Hussain Giri @ Muzamil, son of Mohd Amin Giri of Kundali Pochal, who are presently operating from Pakistan-administred Kashmir,” the police statement said.

SIA searched their respective houses/residential premises in the district.

During the course of searches, the evidence collected shall be investigated so as to subject the accused persons to judicial determination for their involvement in anti-national activities and perpetuation of militancy, police said.

SSP Kishtwar further disclosed that all those supporter/associates of militants whose involvement surfaces during investigations shall also be prosecuted, reads the statement.
