Srinagar: A 22-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for raping a 12-year-old girl in Old Barzulla area of Srinagar.
The accused, a close relative of the victim child, has been identified as Zaid Feroz.
Police said a first information report number 56/2023 under sections 5, 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered in Sadar Police Station and further investigation has been taken up.
“One Accused namely Zaid Feroz of old barzulla, Srinagar aged 22 years arrested for raping a 12 year old child (name withheld). The accused is close relative of victim girl child. FIR no 56/2023 under sections 5, 6 of POCSO act registered in Sadar PS & investigation started,” reads a tweet by Srinagar Police.
