Another sex racket busted in Kashmir; 4th in 3 months

Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla on Wednesday claimed to have busted a sex racket and arrested six persons.

Police received information through reliable sources that some persons are involved in immoral activities in a rented house near Bus Stand Baramulla, a police spokesman said in a sstatemet.

Acting upon the information, a Police Party led by SHO PS Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla busted the prostitution racket.

The racket was run by a tenant identified as Lateef Ahmad Chechi, son of Mohammad Younis Chechi, a resident of Malangam Bandipora, besides, Altaf Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar, a resident of Kralhar Baramulla, Khurshid Ahmad Chechi, son of Abdul Rashid Chechi, a resident of Malangam Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Khan, son of Saifuddin Khan, a resident of Qazi Hamam Baramulla and two female sex workers (name withheld) were also detained.

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 136/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Baramulla and further investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, Police urged the netizens to do tenant verification before given their houses, rooms and shops on rent.

Pertinently, this is the sixth such racket that has been busted in the JK.

Earlier, two prostitution rackets were busted in Srinagar outskirts including Bagh-e-Mehtab and Nowgam area, another in Kupwara and two in Jammu- one Jewel Chowk and another in Nawabad area.
