Satna: A 17-year-old girl has been allegedly raped by a man at a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district, police said on Sunday.

This is the second incident of rape of a minor girl in the district in four days.

The latest incident took place on Friday, following which the family members of the teenage girl lodged a complaint at Ramnagar police station, an official told PTI, adding the accused was arrested on Saturday.

The accused, Vijay Saket, 19, caught hold of the girl when she went to answer nature’s call in a deserted area on Friday afternoon, Ramnagar police station in-charge Aditya Naryan Dhurve said quoting the victim’s complaint.

The accused allegedly threatened to kill the girl and raped her, he said.

The girl got scared and did not inform her family about the incident after returning home, the police official said.

Earlier on Friday, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped and physically assaulted in the same district by two temple trust workers.

The minor was later admitted in Rewa district hospital and is said to be critical.

In this case, police have arrested Ravi Chaudhary and Atul Bhadholiya, employees of the Gaushala of Maihar Temple Management Committee under section 376 d (gangrape) and relevant sections of the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act, Lokesh Davar, sub-divisional officer of police, Maihar, said.

“I have received information about the rape case. My heart is full of pain, and I am distressed. I have instructed the police that no criminal should escape. The police have arrested the criminals”, MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan wrote on his official Twitter account.

Instructions have been given to the administration to make arrangements for her treatment. No criminal will be spared, strict action will be taken, the CM added.

The minor was reported missing from outside her house at approximately 1 pm on Thursday afternoon. The worried family members searched for her and then notified the police about her disappearance.

Tragically, the girl returned home on Friday morning in a semi-conscious state and recounted her harrowing experience of being sexually assaulted to her parents.

In response to this heinous crime, the family, accompanied by locals, promptly approached the police station and registered a First Information Report (FIR) to initiate an official investigation.

The immediate concern was the girl’s well-being, and she was rushed to Maihar Civil Hospital for medical attention. However, due to the severity of her condition, she was later transferred to Rewa Medical College for further treatment.

The incident has caused outrage and condemnation from various quarters, including political leaders.

Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath expressed his dismay and called for accountability from the state government. He highlighted the alarming rise in such crimes in the state and demanded that the government take decisive measures to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.

Kamal Nath took to his official Twitter account to voice his concern and extend support to the victim and her family. He compared this incident to the infamous Nirbhaya case, emphasizing the urgent need to address the issue of inhumane treatment of young girls. He pointed out that instances of atrocities against girls have exposed the government’s failure to provide adequate security and protection to women and children.
