Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industry calls for shutdown on Aug 26

Jammu: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Jammu has called for a Jammu bandh on Saturday, August 26 on issues including installation of smart meters by power development department and Sarore Toll Plaza o n Jammu-Pathankot highway.

Addressing a press conference, Arun Gupta, president CCI-Jammu said that a meeting of the different market and trade associations comprising more than 100 organizations was held to discuss the issues regarding installation of smart meters by PDD and subsequently switching over to prepaid system of billing and toll plaza at Sarore.

He further said that “The members to present their views and after thorough discussions the members of the different associations present expressed their anger over the installation of Smart Meters and functioning at Toll Plaza at Sarore despite damage of entire road,” the president said adding, “The meeting were of the opinion that Jammu Bandh is the only solution to get issues resolved and the members with one voice extended their full support and authorized Chamber President to take any decision including announcing Jammu Bandh in this regard,”

He added that after threadbare discussion, a decision has been taken in the meeting of the associations to announce one day Jammu Bandh on Saturday 26 August 2023. (KNO)
