Srinagar: Scores of residents, including women, in the Batwara area of Srinagar took to streets on Thursday to protest against Jal Shakit department due to non-availability of water supply in the area.

As per the news agency Kashmir News Observer people held a sit-in protest and blocked the road near Batwara, affecting traffic for some time.

“We have suffered badly due to the non-availability of water supply, and we are facing immense hardships for the past two months,” said a protesting woman.

They said that the concerned authorities are not paying any heed to their genuine demands.

An official of Jal Shakti department told KNO that there was some fault, which will be resolved within three days.
