Military operation against militants starts in south Kashmir, says police

Kokernag: A military operation against militants has began in Gadole area of Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag on Wednesday.

As per police officials, a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Indian Army launched a cordon and search operation following specific input about the presence of militants in the area.

As the joint team of armed forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off the operation.

A senior police officer also confirmed exchange of firing between militants and armed forces in this part of south Kashmir.

Pertinently, another military operation against militants is underway in Narla area of Rajouri district. So far, two militants have been killed and the operation is going on. Yesterday, three armed forces personnel were injured in the operation and one amongst them succumbed to injuries later.
