Srinagar: A television panellist from Kashmir, Majid Hyderi, was arrested on Friday from his residence in Peerbagh area of the city for alleged criminal conspiracy and other charges, Srinagar police said.
The first information report under Indian Penal Code was registered at Sadder police station on the basis of order issued by the Srinagar court, police said. Hyderi has been arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy, intimidation, extortion, giving false information and defamation.
Informing through X, formerly known as Twitter, the Srinagar police wrote, “FIR No 88/2023 U/S 120-B, 177,386,500 of IPC registered in Sadder PS on basis of order issued by Hon’ble court of JMIC Srinagar. One Majid Hyderi S/o Jahangir Hyderi R/o Peerbagh arrested for criminal conspiracy, intimidation, extortion, giving false information, defamation etc”.
