ECI announces poll dates for five states; results in Dec

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has unveiled the schedule for Assembly elections in five states set to take place next month.

The commission has released the election dates for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram.

Mizoram is scheduled for polling on November 7, while Chhattisgarh will have elections in two phases, on November 7 and November 17. Madhya Pradesh will hold its elections on November 17, Rajasthan on November 23, and Telangana on November 30. The election results will be officially declared on December 3, as per NDTV.

Madhya Pradesh, under BJP governance, will choose representatives from 230 constituencies, while the Congress-led Rajasthan Assembly consists of 200 seats.

In Telangana, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi will face off against the BJP and the Congress across 119 Assembly seats. In the 90-seat Chhattisgarh assembly, the Congress is poised to compete against the BJP. Both parties will vie for a presence in the 40-seat Assembly of Mizoram, which is presently led by the Mizo National Front.

Earlier in the morning, the commission said the it is set to announce the schedule for assembly elections in five states at 12 noon. This announcement will be made during a press conference held by the Commission.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has given directions to over 1000 observers to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process by working together in a coordinated manner.

Their goal is to ensure that the elections are conducted without any undue influence or inducements, providing a level-playing field for all parties involved.

These observers will be deployed for the upcoming elections in the legislative assemblies of Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana. Their primary responsibility is to maintain the integrity of the elections and ensure that no unfair advantages are given to any party.

The term of the Mizoram assembly is set to end on December 17, with the Mizo National Front currently in power in the northeastern state. Meanwhile, the legislative assemblies of Telangana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh have terms ending on different dates in January next year.

As of the latest information available, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is in power in Telangana, the BJP governs Madhya Pradesh, and Congress holds the government in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
