Hamas used innovative techniques to weaponize drones in attack on Israel: Report

An Israeli tank attacked by Palestinian soldiers in a recent attack.

In a recent  attack on Israel, Hamas employed tactics that military experts say were rarely used before.

According to NDTV, during this attack, the Palestinian soldiers used powered gliders to insert heavily armed individuals into Israel from the Gaza Strip.

They also deployed weaponized commercial drones to target static Israeli defenses.

Hamas utilized commercial four-rotor drones to drop small bombs, which resembled mortar rounds, on light Israeli defense fortifications.

This new form of attack has raised concerns among military analysts.

It’s noteworthy that weaponized commercial drones, readily available in neighborhood electronics stores, were first observed in Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces, outnumbered and facing an invasion from the Russian military, began using small drones fitted with improvised hand grenades and mortar rounds to target armored elements of the invading forces.

This tactic proved to be highly effective, as these affordable drones could disable armored vehicles and neutralize troops, posing a significant challenge for larger military forces.

During the recent attack on Israel, Hamas employed a swarm of commercial drones armed with small bombs.

While Hamas used powered gliders to infiltrate and bulldozers to breach the border, the drones were sent to attack watch towers along the border fence.

The Israeli watch towers, protected from the sides with armor but lacking roofs, became vulnerable targets. The bombs dropped by these drones directly hit the gunner’s seat, effectively disabling Israel’s first line of border defense.

The backdrop to these actions is the conflict between Israel and the Gaza-based Palestinian soldiers from Hamas group.

Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on Saturday, launching a barrage of rockets in response to the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and escalating settler violence. In retaliation, the Israeli army initiated Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

As a result of the conflict, the Gaza-based Health Ministry reported that the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Gaza had reached 704, including 143 children and 105 women.

The number of wounded individuals had risen to around 4,000. On the Israeli side, the Israeli Health Ministry reported that at least 900 Israelis had been killed, and over 2,600 others had been wounded in the fighting.

In the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, numerous reports and international organizations have accused Israeli forces of committing alleged war crimes and violations of international law in the occupied Palestinian territories.

These accusations include claims of indiscriminate attacks that have resulted in civilian casualties, the use of excessive force against protesters, and the destruction of civilian infrastructure.

Concerns have been raised about the impact of these actions on Palestinian civilians, particularly in Gaza, where high civilian casualties have occurred during military operations.

These brutal actions have sparked international condemnation and calls for investigations into possible violations of human rights and international humanitarian law.
