United Nations senator Lindsey Graham made a controversial statement on Wednesday, calling for both the United States and Israel to take military action against Iran.

During an interview with CNN, he was asked if he believed the US and Israel should “bomb Iran even in the absence of direct evidence of their involvement” in the recent attack launched by the Palestinian Hamas forces on Israel. In response, the Republican senator affirmed his stance, stating, “Yeah.”

Graham went further to advocate for a joint military operation targeting Iran’s infrastructure, emphasizing that Iran should bear the consequences if any alleged “hostages taken by Hamas” are harmed.

He warned that if the conflict between Israel and its adversaries escalates, he would hold Iran responsible and stressed the need to issue a strong warning to the nation. He expressed confidence in the capabilities of the US military, asserting, “I think if there was a war with Iran, we would win.”

In addition to his call for action against Iran, Senator Graham attributed the recent events in Israel to the influence of Iran, linking the activities by Hamas and Hezbollah to the Iranian government.

The current crisis began with Hamas launching Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, which involved rocket attacks on Israel through various means. Hamas cited their actions as a response to the events surrounding the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and escalating violence and occupational crimes against Palestinians by Israeli settlers from decades.

Since then the Israel has not stopped bombarding Palestine. The conflict has resulted in a devastating toll, with nearly 1,200 Palestinians losing their lives so far.
