On Friday, at least 70 people — mostly women and children — were killed after Israeli airstrikes hit convoys of Palestinian evacuees fleeing Gaza. Cars were struck in three places as they headed south from Gaza City.

The Gaza health officials have issued a pressing plea for the immediate opening of corridors to facilitate the evacuation of the wounded from the besieged enclave, citing the “catastrophic” situation prevailing within its borders.

According to the latest report by Al Jazeera, the death toll has surged, with more than 320 Palestinians, including numerous women and children in last 24 hours, killed in Israeli air raids on convoys attempting to flee Gaza City.

Amidst the relentless airstrikes, Israel persists in bombing Gaza, following its directive for 1.1 million residents to relocate south in anticipation of an imminent ground offensive prompted by Hamas’s recent attack inside Israel.

Al Jazeera’s coverage further highlights the staggering casualties, indicating that at least 2,215 Palestinians have lost their lives, with 8,714 individuals sustaining injuries in the Israeli air assaults. Meanwhile, in Israel, the number of casualties has surpassed 1,300, with more than 3,400 wounded.

In conjunction with the ongoing crisis, the occupied West Bank has witnessed a devastating surge in violence, resulting in the deaths of over 50 Palestinians due to Israeli fire in the past week. Al Jazeera’s comprehensive report emphasizes that over 1,000 individuals have been wounded, with several hundreds subjected to arrests.

The urgency of the situation has prompted widespread concern, with Gaza health officials emphasizing the critical need for immediate measures to facilitate the evacuation of the wounded.

As the death toll continues to rise and the humanitarian crisis deepens, the call for the opening of safe corridors remains a vital plea in efforts to mitigate the escalating human suffering in Gaza.
