Trio arrested for gate-crashing, misbehaving with women during marriage function: Srinagar police

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday arrested three people from Gath Colony area of Noorbagh Srinagar for allegedly gate-crashing a marriage function and mishebhaving with women.

Tahir Sheikh, Mehrajuddin Sheikh, and Danish Qayoom, from the nearby Gath Colony, barged into the event uninvited, disrupting the peaceful atmosphere with their unruly behavior.

They began to create a ruckus, disturbing the guests and causing a wave of unease to ripple through the gathering, police said.

“Three local miscreants namely 1) Tahir Sheikh 2) Mehrajuddin sheikh 3) Danish Qayoom, all of gath colony arrested for gate-crashing, creating ruckus & misbehaving with ladies in a marriage function in Noorbagh. FIR no 139/2023 u/s 147, 323, 354, 392, 427 IPC in safakadal PS,” Srinaagr police tweeted.
The trio not only caused a disturbance but also resorting to physical altercations with some attendees. Several ladies, who were enjoying the festivities, became the targets of their unruly behaviour.
Following the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 147 (Punishment for rioting), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 392 (Punishment for robbery), and 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code, the Safakadal Police Station initiated a thorough investigation.
