Anantnag: The Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag in south Kashmir lacks most of the facilities as it has failed to conduct basic tests including  KFT, LFT, and lipid profile for the past two months.

Insiders said that there is a lack of coordination between the hospital authorities and the supplier. The supplier has not been paid as a result he has stopped the supply of medical equipment and other required items.

Patients confirmed that doctors advise them to get the tests done outside the hospital. Even Troponin tests are not being conducted in the hospital.

“The patients have to pay hefty sums to get these tests done at private diagnostic laboratories.

“There is even no facility for carrying out urine and blood cultures at the hospital. The tests cost around Rs 600 at the private centers,” claimed a patient.

Medical Superintendent Dr Abid Malik feigned ignorance about the matter, however, Principal GMC Anantnag, Dr Anjum told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that they are in touch with the supplier and all tests will be done in the hospital as per routine.
