BBC Arabic reporter Mehdi Musawi also faced difficulties contacting journalists and health officials in Gaza, managing only brief exchanges on WhatsApp throughout the day. Despite eventually establishing contact with Gaza’s Al Shifa hospital, all communication lines were subsequently cut off by the evening.
International media and aid agencies say they lost contact with staff in Gaza amid a near-total communications blackout.
More than 1 million Palestinian children and their parents are living through “pure horror” in the besieged enclave, says humanitarian group Save the Children.
At least 7,326 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7.
