Saudi Arabia: Shakira concert to go ahead as planned

Lebanese-Colombian singer Shakira will perform at first-ever concert in Saudi Arabia, which is held as a part of the Riyadh Season 2023.

“The final countdown is only 24 hours until the beginning of the opening ceremony of the Riyadh season, a group of international and local names led by international star Shakira,” Concerts Saudi wrote on X platform on October 26.

The 4th edition of the Riyadh Season is held under the slogan of “Big Time”, which started today.

Turki Al-Sheikh, head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA), announced the the performance on social media alongside various performers.

He also disclosed that this year’s festival will be different and feature a new and innovative brand.

“The festival aims to create more than 200,000 direct and indirect jobs, and empower nearly 2,000 local and international companies to establish the most distinguished entertainment experiences from all over the world on an area spreading over seven million square meters,” Al-Sheikh had said earlier.

He expressed his appreciation for the unlimited support that the entertainment sector receives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

“The opening ceremony of this year’s season will be conducted by the top event organizers around the world, with the participation of the most famous celebrities. It will be accompanied by the Riyadh Season Belt Fight, which is the first and largest event of its kind, and one of the largest heavyweight boxing fights.”

Al-Sheikh said that the season will witness an upgraded website with new features and an approved ticketing platform with unique specifications.
